They offer hands on welding training with all of the major welding processes like stick, MIG, TIG and FCAW. In addition to learning how to weld mild steel you will get experience welding aluminum and stainless steel. Both pipe welding and plate welding are covered also.

This Technical College offers a very wide verity of welding courses where you can earn a technical diploma. The cover all of the major welding processes including stick, MIG, TIG and FCAW. In addition to welding mild steel you will also learn how to weld more exotic metals like stainless steel and aluminum.

Fletcher Technical College has an excellent welding program where you will learn to weld pipe as well as plate with SMAW,MIG, TIG and FCAW. McNeese State College offer two basic welding programs that will give you some very basic training. These courses are not the best fir for someone that is seeking a career as a welder but more for the hobbyist.
Don’t get fooled into spending your hard earned money on a BAD welding school!
Other options for welding training: Welding Apprenticeships
A welding apprenticeship can be a great way to earn money while you receive your training. Both the Ironworkers and Boilermakers Union offer excellent apprenticeship opportunities that are open to anyone no matter your skill level.
Apprenticeships can last anywhere between 4 to 5 years and earnings can range from $15 an hour to $20 an hour depending on what your apprenticeship. Both apprenticeship programs are not strictly about welding as you will learn many other industry related skills like rigging, pipe fitting, metal cutting and crane signaling.
After you completed your apprenticeship you’ll be what is called a journeyman. This means that you will be earning a full wage that can range anywhere between $20 and $35 per hour.

There are many Ironworker and Boilermaker locals in Louisiana and any of them will be able to give you information about their apprenticeship program. The boilermakers have a large site dedicated to just apprenticeship information.
