Other options for welding training: Welding Apprenticeships

A welding apprenticeship can be a great way to earn money while you receive your training. Both the Ironworkers and Boilermakers Union offer excellent apprenticeship opportunities that are open to anyone no matter your skill level.

Apprenticeships can last anywhere between 4 to 5 years and earnings can range from $15 an hour to $20 an hour depending on what your apprenticeship. Both apprenticeship programs are not strictly about welding as you will learn many other industry related skills like rigging, pipe fitting, metal cutting and crane signaling.

After you completed your apprenticeship you’ll be what is called a journeyman. This means that you will be earning a full wage that can range anywhere between $20 and $35 per hour.
