This North Dakota welding school offers two different programs; an Associates Degree in Welding program and a welding technology certificate program. You will learn all of the common welding processes on pipe as well as plate. In addition to welding and metal cutting you will get hands on training with CNC plasma cutting, CNC Press brake operation and blueprint reading. It is nice to see a school that is embracing technology such as CNC.
Williston offers an Associate’s Degree welding program. What I really love about this school is that they prepare you and allow you to take to welding certifications. Having the AWS D1.1 (Structural Steel) and ASME Section IX (Pipe) welding certifications will open up a lot more doors for you and will also allow you to earn more money. An Associate’s Degree may not be very helpful to have as an entry level welder but it may pay off in the future if you want to move into management positions.
Northland offers a diploma welding program and will give you experience using MIG, TIG, Stick and Flux Cored welding. They cover pipe welding as well as plate welding and metal cutting. In total the welding program is 3 semester long from the fall to the end of summer. You can look at specific classes here.
