What I really love about this school is that they offer welding certification tests. Being certified greatly improves your chance of getting a good, high paying welding job.

West Virginia University offers two great welding programs, a short term welding program and a more extensive program where you can earn an Associates Degree in Welding. If you are wanting a serious welding career and you live in West Virginia I would look into their Associate’s Degree in Welding program.
Other Welder Training in West Virginia: Welding Apprenticeships
Both the boilermakers and ironworkers offer excellent apprenticeship programs to anyone interested.
You do not need any prior skills or training to apply for the apprenticeship programs. While these programs offer much more than just well welding, it is definitely one of the skills that both unions utilize.
An apprenticeship can last anywhere between four and five years and you will earn a significant wage from day one all the way until you are in full-fledged journeyman. Journeyman can make anywhere between $27 and $33 per hour depending on the geographic location you work out of.
During your apprenticeship you’ll have on-the-job training as well as in classroom training and learn. You will learn many different skills including welding, pipefitting, blueprint reading, crane signaling and other unique skills.
